BS 25999, The Next Generation of Business Continuity Management

Cost:              FREE
Place:            Chicago, IL
Guest Speaker: The Radian Group, LLC.

Over the last few years, our country has experienced a number of natural disasters and deliberate events that have interrupted many companies’ abilities to sustain daily operations. Research has shown that 80% of businesses fail to recover within a year of a major disruption. 92% of companies surveyed reported that they have already experienced at least one event that has had a direct impact on their organization.  The ability for an organization to maintain its critical operations during and following a disastrous event, as well as the speed at which it is able to re-establish its full functionality, can be the difference between survival and devastation.

For the first time a business continuity standard is available that addresses all parts of the business and not just disaster recovery and/or emergency planning. BS 25999 is a holistic management system that has been designed and developed by a world-class cross section of industry and public sector experts to be suitable for any organization, large or small and from any sector. It is particularly relevant to organizations operating in a new breed of high risk business continuity sectors - such as finance, telecommunications, transport, utilities and the public sector - where the ability to continue operating is paramount for the organization as well as its customers and stakeholders.

Industry experts from BSI and other guest speakers will provide you with an introduction to the new BS 25999 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and the BS 25999 certification process with BSI.  You will also learn about the structure and content of the BS 25999 standard, including deployment methodology.  A comparison of BS 25999 with NFPA 1600 and other best practices will also be presented.
