About our ITA Roundtables:

The Radian Group continues to present through the ITA a free industry discussion for IT Management professionals and those dealing with the issues of Compliance Management for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs) – both those companies that are publicly held and those considering IPO strategies in the future and those organizations in the supply chain. At our Compliance Roundtables, many ideas and experiences are shared from industry experts to help turn IT Compliance challenges into opportunities.

Information Technology departments continue to be under pressure to support more and more of the ever growing Corporate Compliance requirements being placed on their organizations – these sessions offer a way for them to get control over the audit and be a hero to the boardroom when meeting those challenges.

Our Fall-Winter Roundtable discussions will be held on the second Thursday of the month from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. at Illinois Technology Association Conference Centre, 200 S. Wacker – 15th floor, Chicago, IL 60101. In-Person Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. - Advanced Registration is open below!

BS 25999, The Next Generation of Business Continuity Management

Cost:              FREE
Date:
Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Place:            Chicago, IL
Guest Speaker: The Radian Group, LLC.

Over the last few years, our country has experienced a number of natural disasters and deliberate events that have interrupted many companies’ abilities to sustain daily operations. Research has shown that 80% of businesses fail to recover within a year of a major disruption. 92% of companies surveyed reported that they have already experienced at least one event that has had a direct impact on their organization.  The ability for an organization to maintain its critical operations during and following a disastrous event, as well as the speed at which it is able to re-establish its full functionality, can be the difference between survival and devastation.

For the first time a business continuity standard is available that addresses all parts of the business and not just disaster recovery and/or emergency planning. BS 25999 is a holistic management system that has been designed and developed by a world-class cross section of industry and public sector experts to be suitable for any organization, large or small and from any sector. It is particularly relevant to organizations operating in a new breed of high risk business continuity sectors - such as finance, telecommunications, transport, utilities and the public sector - where the ability to continue operating is paramount for the organization as well as its customers and stakeholders.

Industry experts from BSI and other guest speakers will provide you with an introduction to the new BS 25999 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and the BS 25999 certification process with BSI.  You will also learn about the structure and content of the BS 25999 standard, including deployment methodology.  A comparison of BS 25999 with NFPA 1600 and other best practices will also be presented.
